Dylan Blackstone is an artist, woodworker, and sculptor from Oakland, California. Raised with the understanding that all things in the natural world have spirit, he has always felt deeply connected to and inspired by nature. His forms reflect the harmonious patterns of the organic world and the geometric building blocks that create life. An avid psychedelic explorer, he coins the term “Psychedelic Carpentry” to describe his work. And it is just that- as though taking shapes and forms from your wildest fantasies and materializing them in real-time- creating spaces and artwork that ignites curiosity and imagination.
In his early twenties Dylan worked with the company Bamboo DNA, building large scale bamboo stages and immersive art installations at Music Festivals in California Nevada and Portugal. After two years working with Bamboo DNA, he started his own company Blackstone Builds, and spent the next five years designing his own structures at Festivals in California, Oregon, Texas, Costa Rica, and Australia. From geometric structures with multi-level cargo nets for people to lay in, to a two-story bamboo Climbing structure that held 300+ people, he is always ready to push the boundaries of imagination.
Over the past couple years Dylan has transitioned into his studio, focusing on materials like high end woods, mirror, and light. He harnesses the magic of his large scale designs into refined sculptures wIth immaculate detail and geometries. He also began creating high end Yoni Steaming Stools after making one for his partner, and receiving requests for more. He is currently interested taking custom commissions, creating decorative sculptures and functional art like gazebos and shade structures for homes and businesses alike.
